An opportunity has arisen to join an expanding Big Data team within the Data & Decisioning team of Clydesdale Bank. 

As a Big Data DevOps Engineer, you will…

  • Maintain Hadoop Clusters across Production and Development environments.
  • Improve Instrumentation and Monitoring
  • Support and Automate Big Data Deployments
  • Design and build internal tools to streamline processes
  • Identify bottlenecks and improve system performance

We need you have…

  • Demonstrable experience in a DevOps or similar role
  • Strong foundation in Linux Administration skills (particularly RHEL/CentOS)
  • Excellent scripting & coding skills (Bash, Python, or Ruby)
  • Familiar with Continuous Integration, Delivery and Deployment (Jenkins, GitHub)
  • Knowledge of SQL (primarily MySQL and variants)
  • Excellent problem-solving skills
  • An interest in Big Data and a passion for DevOps

We would like you to have…

  • Hands on experience with Big Data Technologies (Spark, HDFS, Hive, HBase)
  • Experience of using the following:
  • Scala / Java
  • Kafka / Flume
  • automation/configuration tools (Ansible, Salt, Chef, or Puppet)
  • public cloud environments (AWS, GCP, or Azure)
  • Previous experience of working within one or more regulated industries
  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience
