The Retail Risk team is an integral part of the business, responsible for identifying and managing the risks on the Retail portfolios, risk strategies to aid automated decision making and helps the Bank manage its capital requirements under Advanced IRB regulation. The Bank is embarking on the replacement of multiple key risk decision systems, this project is jointly owned by Retail Risk and Innovation and Change.

The Senior Data and Reporting Manager role is an exciting opportunity for individuals who are keen to manage and resolve data investigations at a portfolio and individual account or customer level. This role offers an opportunity to lead and coach a team of analytical individuals. This role is well suited to an individual who enjoys getting into the detail, but is looking to blend this with management of a team. While the role has responsibility to ensure the accuracy of the data drives the credit risk decisioning for the bank and the accuracy of the data sent externally to feed into customers credit files. There is a huge opportunity to drive continuous improvement in our data assessment and new ways of utilising the significant quantity of credit risk data we hold.
Based in Leeds and reporting to the Head of Systems, Data and Reporting, the Senior Data and Reporting Manager is primarily responsible for ensuring that all the data flowing into and out of the Retail Risk SAS analytical warehouse and the automated systems used for risk decisioning is understood, accurate and remains fit for purposes. Specifically, this includes:
Responsible for a team of technical data specialists capable of large volumes of analytical workloads and complex data analysis
Responsible for the Credit Bureau team overseeing the 500 to 600 credit file queries on a monthly basis.
Understand and lead the investigation into Data Quality Issues, supporting the IT function in managing their resolution.
Manage the execution of monthly data profiling and accuracy assessment across the Retail risk data landscape.
Work with Credit Models, Secured and Unsecured portfolio teams and Systems specialists to ensure the data, data lineage and metadata supports risk policy, strategy and future model and strategy enhancements
Review and enhancement of Retail Risk data processes, procedures and controls.
Deliver first class documentation to ensure full data lineage is understood
Act as a point of co-ordination for Retail Risk in data related projects
It’s essential you have…
Significant experience in banking, risk management and data management
Expert Knowledge of Credit Reference Agency Data and processes
Extensive experience with data mining tools e.g. SAS, Business Objects etc.
Extensive knowledge of data and systems management, including industry-wide approaches
Experience leading a team in a fast-moving environment including; effective resource management, positive behaviours and development to build capabilities.
A high-level qualification in a numerical or coding based discipline, or equivalent technical experience
Excellent written and oral communication skills including the ability to articulate complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders
Experience in building trusted relationships with key stakeholder, both internally and externally including conflict and challenge management.
Logical approach to problem-solving in relation to both technical and business issues.
