Right now we are searching for a Senior Manager, Editorial Content to join our Consumer Communications team in London, Glasgow or Gosforth. As well as proven expertise running an editorial team to create world-class consumer content, we welcome insatiable curiosity and relentless optimism. 100% commitment to driving our purpose and living it. We have an opportunity to redefine how banks talk to customers by creating a buzzing online publication with the most relevant and interesting content that will make them feel happier about money.
The role will require you to completely overhaul and update our online editorial site – Virgin Money Living – redefine its purpose, content strategy and distribution of content across all available channels. You will lead a small team of content experts as well as an external network of journalists to reach our customers and communicate the Virgin Money brand. You will build a content plan and strategy and find the very best editorial talent to relaunch the publication in the UK. You will ensure every opportunity is relentlessly pursued to maximise our investment in our sponsorship programme – for example our music events around the UK feature heavily in our online publication. You will determine the best form of content – video, written, photographic etc…. to create a narrative around Virgin Money that will engage existing customers and drive new customers to our brand and products. We want to create one of the most-loved consumer brands in the UK and you will be one of the key players in the brand and marketing function driving this ambition.
What’s the job really all about?
Think of yourself as the Editor-in-Chief of the most exciting consumer titles in the UK. You will spend your time focussed on putting together a game-changing publication that will surprise and delight our customers and be a ‘must-read’ people talk about. So much more than a website for banking content – this publication will be a core platform for the Virgin Money brand and will be relaunched with a fully integrated strategy for driving SEO, customer acquisition and brand awareness and will be central to our email marketing and social media engagement strategy as a whole.
You will evolve the online publication from a purely financial services content hub to a true consumer lifestyle publication with a regular team of lifestyle content contributors to enhance the titles’ remit and appeal. As part of this you will be working with influencers as well as traditional media and will help drive audience growth and engagement in social media.
The role requires liaising with teams across the Bank where you will have multiple stakeholders and in particular working with the mortgage and retail banking marketing leaders to define how our online lifestyle content can grow and support their business areas. You will also work very closely with the Virgin Money Giving team and will be responsible for online editorial content for VMG’s Fundraising Hub
Ideally you’ll have significant experience as a lifestyle/ consumer journalist with time in role as an editor working with a team of contributors/ journalists. You will be well connected in the UK media scene and will also have experience overseeing the creation of content across mixed mediums including video.
You will have a vision for how we can bring a ‘life more Virgin’ to our customers and will work with our loyalty team to communicate the benefits of being a Virgin Money customer to consumers through our editorial digital content
You will have a sound understanding of financial services, but more importantly you will be the person that knows how to build a leading consumer brand through digital content using our online publication as the hub where the Virgin Money personality comes to life.
