Right now we are searching for a Senior Social Media Manager to join our Consumer Communications team in London, Glasgow or Gosforth. As well as proven expertise running a social media team to create world-class consumer content, we welcome insatiable curiosity and relentless optimism. The role will require you to completely overhaul and update our approach to social media. We are at the beginning of our journey to combine Clydesdale + Yorkshire Banks with Virgin Money and key to this is the successful migration of our social media audiences from the CYB brands as we become one brand under Virgin Money. We are looking for someone to design a strategy and implement a fully integrated plan to engage customers across all brands and bring them with us on this journey to become a bigger, better Virgin Money. We are also looking for someone with a deep understanding of social media platforms to define a channel strategy and clear role for each social media platform. This will require a thorough review of channel performance and an understanding of when to use social channels for customer services content versus brand content to drive brand awareness and engagement.
We also need someone who can work effectively with agencies to get the best out of external support and the role holder will also need to collaborate closely with the brand team to ensure major consumer marketing campaigns come to life in social media environments.
We also need this role holder to work their social media magic on the Virgin Money Giving social channels - working closely with the VMG marketing team to deliver the right messages to our charity and fundraising audiences through social channels and bring the VMG activity closer to the heart of the Virgin Money master brand.
What’s the job really all about?
No two days will be the same - that is one of many reasons why this is an exciting role in a highly active team doing creative, engaging work. You are at the helm of a team tasked with driving high brand NPS and awareness through effective use of the social media environment. From working with agencies to advising the customer services team on brand tone of voice dealing with issues to launching marketing campaigns on social you will be working in a fast-paced environment and will need to think on your feet and challenge your team to push the boundaries of what social media can do for a brand.
You will work very closely with the sponsorship and events team as a large percentage of content for social will come from activity in this area and you will also work very closely with the brand team on upcoming larger consumer campaigns.. Social media is a key strategic channel for Virgin Money and has a seat at the table of wider marketing campaigns – we see social as the future driving channel for our marketing – as such we are truly looking for a social media star who likes to challenge and smartly disrupt.
Ideally you’ll have significant experience running a social media function and team for a consumer brand. Both agency and in-house experience is ideal, and you will have close relationships with the major social media owners (Facebook/ Instagram/ Twitter) and experience in media buying.
You will have a vision for how we can bring a ‘life more Virgin’ to our customers and will work with our loyalty team to communicate the benefits of being a Virgin Money customer to consumers through our social content.
You will have a sound understanding of financial services, but more importantly you will be the person that knows how to build a leading consumer brand through social content and will understand how to use these platforms to bring the Virgin Money personality to life.
